McNeil’s Notes
Hey folks:
Due to the all the rain, Desoto Central has decided to cancel the Desoto County Exhibition for this year. There will be no make-up date. We thought about doing it on our field, but with only two days notice, we decided that there wasn't enough time to get everything ready. So, we will not be staying late today like I told the kids on Friday; instead we will practice until 6pm tomorrow. There shouldn't be any conflicts since we were going to be at the expo anyway.
Don't forget about Saturday's competitions. This is going to be a long, but very productive, day for our young people. Just in case you forgot, I am attaching another itinerary for Saturday.
Hopefully, everyone is getting over their illnesses. You may have noticed Friday night that the show was much worse than the previous week. That was primarily due to all the "holes" we had with sick folks. I think we had 10 holes Friday night. Maybe the rain pushed all the flu and bugs out of here.
I would like your feedback on something: as you know, we are going to the MHSAA Marching Band Championships in Clinton on Oct. 24th. We do not have charter busses in the budget for this contest. We have reserved the "trip" yellow busses from the county - these are the a/c busses. I know the kids would much rather have charters for this long day as well as the staff, since we drive the "trip" busses, so what do you think about offsetting the charters by having the kids bring $20 for this? We would pay $1800 for the "trip" busses from the county, and with $20 from each student, that would be $2700, and the boosters could put in the rest. Just a suggestion, let me know what you think, either way. But please no bashing, hehe. Just thoughts. Just so you know, the last time we went there, we left around 8am and got home around 2am.

9/14/09Hey folks: I hope you have enjoyed what the band has accomplished so far. This year has been a joy for me as the young people are working very hard and their overall demeanor is outstanding. I have lots of information to give to you: 1) We have our booster meeting tonight at the OBHS Band Hall at 6:30. I surely hope to see you there as we continue to provide for our young people. 2) We will be playing MUS this Friday night. This will be a huge crowd since they beat us last year. 3) Next Tuesday is the Desoto County Exhibition held at Desoto Central High School. Attached is the itinerary for this entitled Desoto County Exhibition Itinerary09. Please notice that the DC band boosters will provide dinner for the students for $5. They will need to pay this as they get on the bus. I am also attaching the schedule of events for the exhibition entitled Expo Schedule 09. 4) Also attached is the itinerary for the 26th entitled NWCC-Lewisburg Itinerary 09. We will be attending both the Northwest CC contest and the Lewisburg contest. This is going to be a long day but I am very excited about our possibilities on this day. I am also attaching a schedule event for both places entitled NWCC Marching Contest Schedule 2009 and Lewisburg Contest Schedule 09Thanks for all that you do and please let us know if you need anything.
