Kroger Gift Card Fundraising Program
Dear Students and Parents,
This is a fundraiser that is intended to be an easy way to earn money towards band dues and fair
share. This fundraiser can be done year round with little to no work involved.
Here’s how it works:
1)Students/Parents purchase Kroger Gift Cards from the OB Band Boosters for $5.00 each. Gift
cards come preloaded with $5.00. Gift Cards can be loaded with $5 to $500 at any Kroger store.
2)Shop at any Kroger Grocery store as normal. Before you checkout ask the cashier to load your
OB Band Kroger Gift Card with the approximate amount of money of your purchases. When you
load your card 5% of the money loaded will be credited to your fair share account. You can
purchase all merchandise from Kroger including fuel and prescriptions. Exceptions are “services”
defined as money orders, Western Union, postage stamps, lottery tickets, or another Gift Card of
any sort.
3)Pay using the OB Band Kroger Gift Card. You may purchase as many cards as you wish.
FAQ’s and Important Info
When/How Do I Use My Gift Card?
Kroger Fundraising Gift Cards can be reloaded at Guest Services or at the register inside
your local Kroger store. Important: If you reload at the register and use the card to pay for
your purchases, please ask the cashier to reload before your purchases are rung.
How does the Kroger Fundraising Gift Card work?
Kroger Gift Card Fundraising is for all non-profit organizations. The OB Band Boosters
purchase the cards from the Gift Services Department and sells them at face value to their
supporters. Each time the cardholder reloads their fundraising card with additional money
the OB Band Boosters receive 5% credit of the total dollar amount. Once the OB Band
Boosters reach $5,000 in reloads, the OB Band Boosters will receive a 5% rebate check.
The Kroger Gift Card can be reloaded for up to $500.00 each time.
How does my student get credit for their Fair Share?
Each Gift Card purchased through the OB Band Boosters has a number designated by the
Kroger Corporation. When a student/parent purchases this gift card through the Band we will
record the number and the student that it corresponds with. Each month Kroger sends the
OB Band Boosters an itemized statement that lists the card numbers and how much money
was earned from use of that card. This amount will be applied to the student’s Fair Share
account.
What if my gift card is lost or stolen?
It is important for the OB Band Boosters to record each cardholder’s name and phone
number to the corresponding Kroger Gift Card as it is assigned. The Kroger Co. is not
responsible for lost or stolen cards, however, having the card number can aid Gift Services
in tracking the card activity. A Buyer’s Log is supplied with each gift card purchase to log the
card holder’s contact information next to the card. This is most helpful when helping
customers with lost or stolen cards.
What if my gift card won’t scan?
Ask your cashier to manually enter the card number until you have depleted the funds on the
card, making it a zero balance. Once the damaged card has reached a zero balance, simply
dispose of the card and purchase a new card from the OB Band Boosters. Do not attempt to
reload a gift card that will not scan or is damaged. If you purchase a store gift card, it won’t
be linked to the OB Band Boosters; you must go through the OB Band Boosters.
How many Gift Cards can I purchase?
Students/Parents may purchase as many cards as needed through the OB Band Boosters
for $5.00 each. Many families send cards to relatives to use in other places.
Where Can I use my Gift Card?
Gift Cards can be used at any Kroger Store in the United States. The number on the card is
tracked to the OB Band Boosters’ account with Kroger.
Will my card expire?
The Kroger Gift Card will expire only when the card remains at a zero balance for 90 days or
more. Once the card expires, it will need to be replaced with a new card from the OB Band
Boosters. An expired gift card cannot be re-activated.
Can I still use my Kroger Plus/Discount Card?
Yes!! You use your Kroger Plus Card as normal then pay with the Gift Card that you
purchased from the OB Band Boosters and have preloaded. Important: If you reload your
Gift Card at the register and use the card to pay for your purchases, please ask the cashier
to reload before your purchases are rung.
How Can I find out the balance of my Gift Card?
Fundraisers can always find the balance on their gift card by looking at the current receipt,
by visiting www.gcbalance.com or by calling 1-866-822-6252.
What can I purchase with a Kroger Gift Card?
You can purchase all merchandise from Kroger including fuel and prescriptions. Exceptions
are “services” defined as money orders, Western Union, postage stamps, lottery tickets, or
another Gift Card of any sort.
Gift Card Fraud Aversion
There is a five-minute delay from the time your gift card is recharged at Guest Services,
Pharmacy or the Fuel Center. This does not apply if the gift card is reloaded and redeemed
at the same register.
